“The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die. As well as the minds which are prevented from changing their opinions; they cease to be mind.”
- Frederick Nietzsche
Uncertainty can be scary. Believing anything is possible and that most, if not all, things we believe to be true could be wrong is unnerving. It is way easier to live through confirmation bias, seeking information and people who agree with us while being cynical of any/all differing opinions and resources. It takes real humility and courage to be a freethinker, to approach all issues with an open mind, to change our opinions/beliefs when appropriate.
We will never learn anything about what we think we already know. Our opinions and beliefs don’t define us unless we allow them to. Our failures and misconceptions often present our biggest opportunities for growth. Ego and fear prevent many from pursuing anything that may produce failure or from admitting uncertainty. This causes easy task seeking and confirmation bias searching behaviors that only compound negative effects while preventing growth. Failure is only failure when you either quit or refuse to learn from it. One can only be wrong by refusing to entertain differing opinions that may be better/beneficial.
There are few absolute truths in this life.
Despite the incredible amount of knowledge humans have in areas such as science, biology, psychology and physiology, little is understood about where consciousness comes from or what it represents. This is because we don’t understand the concept of one’s soul. Consciousness comes from a constantly evolving synergy between our mind, body, and spirit. The phrase “perception is reality” is controversial for some because it implies that our perceptions of this world, how it runs and what is correct/certain, is a universal constant or truth. Perception is reality in that perception is the filter that we view our world through. It is the link between our internal and external existence arising from the manifestation of our consciousness. Consciousness is so unique, complex, misunderstood and evolving. Reality has many aspects that are generally agreed upon by most people but it is also complex and evolving just like the scientific fields that contribute to its understanding. Because of this, reality becomes our subjective interpretation of our consciousness. Reality, therefore, cannot be absolute true. Absolute truths are existential unknowns. Seeking them often leads to division and close-mindedness.
True growth and enlightenment come from pursuits within the unknown while knowing perfection or certainty will never be completely attained.
Be a freethinker.
Keep an open mind.
Embrace uncertainty.

Thanks, Kyle, your words 'tickle my brain,' and turbocharge my desire to follow the path of freethinking. As an octogenarian, I often wonder what I believe to be true today will be in my grandchildren's dust bin of history.
The only thing I know is that I know nothing... I'm certain of that. 😂
