Very similar to the breathe ups we do in freediving. And if you want a whole other level of mental tough, try working through CO2 tables with breath holds. Just the idea makes my diaphram anxious.
My favorite breathing exercise was when i'd want to wind down i'd start with box breathing but then progress to longer exhales. Could get to exhaling for a minute straight (very slowly). Haven't done it in a while so definitely can't do it now, but only took a couple sessions to work up to and always felt really relaxing.
Love that. No better way to calm down the system than a prolonged exhale. Bet you could get back to one minute very quickly if you started it back up. I was up to 3:30 breath holds and around 100 seconds on the prolonged exhale. Like you said, I couldn’t do it now but may try to get back to it with the daily challenge being around breathwork this month
"How will you respond when you don’t feel like it?"
Such a big important question, Kyle. I'm a lazy couch potato, but I have a daily 30 minutes series of PT exercise and 2 half-mile swims per week that I MUST do. I have to give myself a stern lecture each time about the need to complete these sessions for my current and future health, or I'd be tempted to blow them off. I envy people who actually enjoy their workouts!
Haha you clearly are not a lazy person but are highlighting something we all deal with - resistance. I don’t have many workouts that I look forward to starting but I know the gratification I feel when I finish them which keeps me coming back. That post workout or cold plunge feeling is the best

Long time to exhale!
Slowest amount of air coming through a pinhole in my mouth. Couldn’t do it any other way
“If nothing else, intentional breathing trains self-awareness and self-control.”
What a coincidence- that’s exactly what I’m seeking! 😁
Same!

I’m all in on this
