I love a challenge. As you suggest this one is tough. I’m concerned that 5 pull-ups every day gives no chance for recovery and may hurt more than help. Having said that 10 pushups is trivially easy, so perhaps it’s more a function of your starting baseline. I will have to modify and not do 5 daily, but starting at 5 every other day building from that to include my vest as the month progresses. Thanks for this, it’ll help greatly to prepare to honor The Murph.

Completely agree. Modify, modify, modify. Not only in rep count but in the pulling exercise you decide to do. Days off encouraged in this one if you’re feeling its effects. Appreciate you brother.

Marshall, I feel some definite modifications happening this month. Years ago, I told my trainer I wanted to do pull-ups (never had been able to). We worked for nearly eight months, and I realized without saying a word she simply no longer had that piece of equipment on my training sheet. 😑

Hey Marshall, look at this, our so very smart leader has a plan ...

Touche' Kyle. I'll seek a tree branch today (because at 55 years old I can achieve the once impossible). 🌳🏋🏻‍♂️💚

Hahah let me know how it goes!

I’m very sympathetic. Until I injured my shoulder, I could easily crank out 10 to 15 pull-ups. I feel about pistol squats the way you do about pull-ups. We all have some challenge that seems impossible. Then there are burpees. I’ve just refused to do burpees.

Hang in there Stacy… literally, hang in there.

:: snort :: burpees! I really like burpees, but I no longer do the pushup but do add double jumping jacks on each end. And I like pistol squats but can only do one leg.

These getting older pains and limitations … gads …

Well Stacy, if you can do burpees and pistol squats you are defying the pains and limitations of getting older quite fiercely, especially given your many other activities. I can no more do a pistol squat than I can fly to the moon. I’m reminded of a quote from a Robert Heinlein novel, “Time Enough for Love”, “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig"

Now, do it for time and you've got Cindy.

Kyle Shepard's avatar

Funny you say that as Cindy was my workout earlier. Didn’t do AMRAP though. Just a 20min EMOM.

My best Cindy was like 23 sets in 20 AMRAP. Problem with Cindy is I lose all the calusus on my hands and I can’t move for three days.

Haha yes. When you really rip through it, goodbye calluses. Especially a big guy like you.
